The Northants Hair & Scalp Clinic
The NHSC was founded by Lisa Gilbey MIT, a registered qualified trichologist whose interest in the profession stemmed from 15 years of hairdressing. Running her own successful business in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, she saw clients suffering from an array of hair and scalp disorders, and sought ways to ease them of their concerns and embarrassments.
Lisa trained as a trichologist at London’s prestigious Institute of Trichologists in 2005 and was elected the John Firmage Certificate of Distinction for her passion and dedication in studying the two-year course. Founded in 1902, this institute is world-renowned and the oldest foremost organisation of its kind whose students leave with an extensive knowledge of human hair and scalp disorders. It was there that she honed her skills in disciplines such as microscopy, biochemistry, microbiology, nutrition and in clinical observation, and where she studied under some of the profession’s leading names.
A diligent, enthusiastic and reliable individual, Lisa has been a qualified trichologist for 10 years.
Not only is Lisa a registered member of The Institute of Trichologists, she is also employed as their Public Liaison Advisor and sits on its Board of Directors. Encompassing Lisa's work as the IoT's Public Liaison Advisor, she assists the media by producing editorials for National newspapers and magazines alongside advising the public on Trichological matters.
In April 2015 Lisa was head hunted by a top Harley Street Clinic and worked as their Senior Consultant at The Private Clinic of Harley Street for 2 years.
Can we help with your hair or scalp problem?
The Northants Hair and Scalp Clinic is a private-based service as trichology is not currently available on the NHS.
Approximately one-fifth of all GP appointments are skin- or hair-related and if a GP feels a hair problem is deemed appropriate for a referral to a dermatologist on the NHS you could be in for a wait of between one to three months for an appointment.
There are approximately just 400 dermatologists in the UK so you can appreciate the lengthy waiting list as they specialise in not only hair but also in nails, skin cancer and skin complaints of the whole body.
Qualified trichologists can reduce the work of a GP and dermatologist by offering services to accurately diagnose a condition, and if a referral is required for a biopsy can produce documents for a GP to refer you.read more
